CAPE GIRADEAU, MO (August 13, 2017) - Well that's one way to do it. With the Missouri Four-Ball reaching a thrilling climax the wining duo of Kory Franks and Brad Carpenter needed to make something happen down the stretch and boy did they ever as they birdied the last six holes to finish 16-under and two-strokes clear of the field.
One back at the start of the final round, the Missouri State teammates opened with a 7-under 65 at Dalhousie Golf Club before putting together there remarkable final round 9-under 63.
People will spend years talking about the finish but Franks and Carpenter put themselves in position early in the round. The duo rolled in birdies on Nos. 2 and 5 to reach 9-under and then they carded an eagle on the par-5 7th to get to 11-under. A bogey did follow on the 9th but a birdie on the ensuing hole got them back on track.
First round co-leaders Chad Niezing and Chris Dale placed second at 14-under, fellow co-leaders Tony Gumper and Ryab Eckelkamp finished third at 13-under while Brad Nurski and Brian Haskell; David Strickland and Ryan Sullivan shared fourth at 12-under.
