OPELIKA, AL (May 7, 2017) - The 2017 Alabama Four-Ball was captured by the team of Matt Johnson and Heath West on Sunday afternoon at Saugahatchee Country Club.
Squaring off against Alan Coshatt and Austin Coggin in the title match Johnson and West were able to emerge by a 3&1 margin.
The teams halved the first five holes before Johnson and Heath took the lead 1 up with a winning birdie on the 6th hole. However, the lead would be short lived as Coshatt and Coggin won the 8th and 9th holes to take what would to be their only lead of the match.
They lead would hold until the the 12th hole and after a halve Johnson and West took the lead for good with a birdie on the 14th hole. Two more birdies on Nos. 15 and 17 would follow as the winning duo pulled away down the stretch.
Johnson and West advanced to the finals with a 3&1 Sunday morning semifinal win over Vic Kyatt III and Andy McRae while Coshatt and Coggin outlasted Forrest Crabtree and Woodie Eubanks in the semis.
