World Am tees off from Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Aug. 26, 2013) -- And…we’re off!
More than 3,000 competitors hit the course today in Round 1 of the 2013 World Amateur Handicap Championship. In its 30th year, the World Am is celebrating its long-standing success with an enhanced experience for its some 3,300 golfers at the daily 19th hole exhibit.
Taking over much of the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center, the 19th hole brings together the golfers and their guests for a heck of time. We’re manning a booth in the exhibition area with some help from Jones Sports and The Golf Connection LLC. Jones, of course, is providing its terrific bags for the amateurgolf.com low gross prizes here at the World Am.
The 19th hole, of course, is a great way to end a day on the golf course --- even if you’re working! I’ve had the opportunity to meet many World Am competitors and the mood is a lively one this year.
On the course, my flight played today at TPC Myrtle Beach. Former host of the Senior PGA Tour Championship, it was a test today with only a few solid rounds from the flight. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow from Myrtlewood’s Pine course.
We’ll keep updating each day from the World Am. For more information on the event, visit WorldAmGolf.com.
