NCAA Central Regional: UAB maintains lead

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. (May 16, 2014) -- Under blistery conditions with temperatures in the 40s, the second round finally got underway from Rich Harvest Farms following a 2.5 hour rain delay. When it was all said and done, Sam Love shot a 72 to power UAB in Round 2 of the NCAA Men's Division I golf Central Regional.
UAB maintains their lead and will enter the final-round of the 54-hole regional with a one-shot lead over Illinois.
In addition to Love's 72, UAB also received solid efforts from Paul Dunne (73) and Martin Rohwer (74).
Illinois was again paced by Brian Williams, who shot a 70 to keep his distance in the individual race. His two-day total of 139, which featured an opening-round 69, is six shots better than Love, Clemson's Carson Young, USC's Rico Hoey, Cleveland State's Andrew Bailey, Purdue's Adam Schenk, Jacksonville State's Pablo Torres and Cal's Joel Stalter.
Clemson is in third place, receiving 73s from Young, Cody Proveaux, Austin Langdale and Stephen Behr in the second round.
Cal surged back towards the top of the leaderboard with a solid second-round. Stalter shot 71 while Brandon Hagy and Michael Weaver turned in 72s.
