Contra Costa: Geyer/Anderson win at County Am
DANVILLE, Calif. (Aug. 5, 2012) -- Ben Geyer has had a couple of really close calls for wins at big events this summer, but fell just short in each of them. This weekend he would have none of that. He posted a pair of 67's to dominate the Championship flight at the Contra Costa County Amateur. Geyer, a senior at Saint Mary's College, led by four strokes after the first round over Rick Reinsberg, who carded 71. Reinsberg followed up with a 69 for 4-under, 140 total, but still fell 6 shy of Geyer.
Earlier this summer Geyer made it to the final match of the prestigious California State Amateur, losing to 2005 USGA Mid-Amateur Champion Kevin Marsh. Geyer also lost in a three-way playoff at the Sahalee Players Championship after a final round 6-under 66.
In third place Bobby Bucey carded 2-under 71-71--142 while Dillon Soldwisch was fourth with rounds of 75-70--145.
In the Senior division, Scott Anderson shot 72-72--144 to edge Terry Foreman (74-71--145) and Peter Moren ( 73-72--145).
Bob Rowland and Michael Brannan were joint fourth at 2-over-par.
