CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (Dec. 14, 2012) --
Las Vegas, Nev., resident Brady Exber
shot a second consecutive round of 67 to
take a one-shot lead into Saturday’s
final round of the Dixie Senior Amateur at
Heron Bay Golf Club.
First-round leader Dick Pfiel of Naples, Fla.,
could do no better than par 72 in the
sunny but breezy conditions and sits in a
tie for third place at 8-under, 136. Pfiel
is tied with Sarasota, Fla., resident John
Vaccaro, one stroke back of Fort
Lauderdale’s Peter Wegmann who had
the day’s low round, a 65. Seven-time
winner Rick Woulfe, also of Fort
Lauderdale, is fifth, just three shots out of
the
lead after a 69.
In the Super Senior division, there is a
three-way tie for the lead as Tom Knapp
and Pat Vincelli joined first-round leader
Bill Dorece at 2-under par 142. Dorece,
another local resident in Pompano Beach,
was the only Super Senior under par
the first day. He had a 72 Friday.
Knapp, from up the road in Tequesta,
posted a 69, the low score of the division
so far while Stuart, Fla., resident Vincelli
came in with 70.
Heron Bay Golf Club, a ClubLink facility, is
playing at 6,500 yards for the senior
division and 6,100 yards for the super
seniors.
The men’s amateur championship begins
Dec. 18 and will be contested on three
ClubLink courses – Heron Bay, Woodlands
Country Club and Palm Aire Country
Club.

Dixie Senior & Mid-Master
The senior version of the Dixie Amateur
Championship added a Mid-Master division
starting in 2019. 54-hole
stroke play event with no cut. Mid-Master (ages 40-
54), Senior (ages 55-64)
and Super Senior
(65+) Divisions. The tournament has long drawn
some of the
country's top senior golfers to South Florida -- Doug
Hanzel (2013-2014, 2017); Brady Exber (2012); and
Rick
Woulfe (an amazing 7 titles, his latest in 2015) are
among the past
champions. All three rounds are
contested at
