Ron Carter, Bob Stephens share Senior Dixie Amateur lead

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (Dec. 9, 2011) – Two Indiana golfers, Bob Stephens of Indianapolis and Ron Carter of Monticello, broke 70 Friday and share the lead after two rounds of the 15th annual Dixie Amateur Seniors Championship at Heron Bay Golf Club. They are tied at four under par 140, Stephens after a 67 and Carter with 69. Three-time defending champion Rick Woulfe of Fort Lauderdale and Dick Anderson of Bluffton, S.C., are tied for third at 142, each on two straight 71s. The first round leader, Evan Long of Charlotte, N.C., slipped to a tie for seventh with 80-150. In the super seniors flight for players 65 and older, Gary Shimmin of Okatie, S.C., grabbed the lead by a stroke at 72-146. There were 30 seniors 55-64 years old and 18 super seniors. A shotgun start is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for the final round.
