Tennessee Women's Senior: Two tied at the top
SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2011) -- The first day of play at the 33rd Annual Women’s Senior Amateur Championship at Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club proved to be a battle against the weather. Rain settled in during afternoon play to make a challenging course even more difficult.
Despite the rainy weather, hometown player, Debbie Durham of Signal Mountain, as well as Linda Mullins (Cleveland) both shot 5-over 76. Not far behind Durham and Mullins is defending champion, Maggie Scott (Charleston) carding a 78 on the day and finishing just two strokes out of the lead. Georgia McCravey of Chattanooga, 2009 champion, matched Scott’s 78 and is tied for the runner up position.
After the first round of play, the field of 72 players was divided into four flights. Round two of the championship will kick off tomorrow with tee times beginning at 9:00 AM. For more information on flights, pairings, tee times, and a full list of today’s results please visit tnwomenssenior.com.
