Vallejo City: Prolo, Miller win flights
VALLEJO, Calif. (June 26, 2011) -- Amateurgolf.com member, Kyle Prolo fired a final round 67 to capture the Vallejo City Amateur. Prolo of Benicia, starting the day three shots back of first round leader, Brian Knoll of El Dorado Hills who opened with a 67.

Prolo's final round included birdies on three of his last four holes and put his tournament total at 137 (70-67). His putting was the difference. He finished one just one shot ahead of Brian Knoll who could not get his birdie attempts to drop. Knoll finished up at 138 (67-71), tied with Barry Logar of Fairfield who shot 138 (69-69).

In discussing his round with the Times-Herald, Prolo said, "I didn't play very well on the front nine, but once I got on the back nine, everything was a lot better. I was hitting practically every green on the back nine."

Prolo, who first won the event in 2007 is now a Vallejo City mutiple winner.

"In 2007 I had a two-shot lead heading into the final round." Prolo told the Times-Herald. "I ended up winning by five strokes, so this one was a lot closer and a lot tougher."

The senior division was again dominated by Mark Miller who captured his fifth title in six years. Miller, of Antioch, shot even par 141 over the east and west courses of Blue Rock Springs.
