With more than half of the field returning scores, Randy Haag is out to the lead after a 2-under 70.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (July 5, 2010) -- The Gods who rule NCGA tournament competition couldn’t have arranged it any better than this. After Burlingame’s Randy Haag, winner of 11 NCGA titles fired a one-under 70 at Spyglass Hill in the first round of the NCGA Master Division, the moons are in alignment for one of the most highly-anticipated final rounds in an NCGA championship in years. The reason? One stroke behind Haag is the all-time leader in NCGA titles won (14) in the form of Pacific Grove’s Casey Boyns. Haag, who is the defending champion and three-time winner of this event, and Boyns, the 2007 champion, were the only competitors to break par, though there are eight players within three shots of the lead. The rest of the final group includes past NCGA champions Darryl Donovan of CordeValle (who won the NCGA Four-Ball in May with Haag) and Jamie Looper of Oakdale. The final round takes place at Poppy Hills tomorrow with starting times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
