Kyle Dougherty uses stellar final round to triumph at McClure Cup

Kyle Dougherty carded rounds of 74-69-66 to get to 7-under overall and win the 2025 McClure Cup at Bayonet Black Horse, Bayonet Course, in Seaside, Calif.
Dougherty, a senior at UC San Diego, shot a final round 6-under 66 to secure the two-shot victory over the field. In the final round, Dougherty recorded eight birdies and two bogeys, including birdies on holes No. 11, 12, 15, 16, and 18.
Aidan Lee of St. Mary's finished in solo second place at 5-under. He entered the final round tied with Dougherty, but a final round 3-under 68 saw him finish two shots behind the winner.
AJ Fitzgerald and Travis Miller of Chico State finished T3 at 4-under. Christopher Chomyn of Stanislaus State finished in solo fifth place at 1-under to round out the top five.
Bayonet and Black Horse continue to be among the best golf courses on the Monterey Peninsula. Both courses are steeped in rich tradition and have hosted PGA Tour greats such as Palmer, Nicklaus, and Watson, as well as several U.S. Presidents and foreign dignitaries.
The courses currently host the Nationwide Tour Monterey Peninsula Classic, Stage I and II of the PGA Tour Qualifying School, and the amateurgolf.com Monterey Bay Championship in May.
