The Florida State Men's and Wake Forest women's team will defending their titles in the televised match-play event
Florida State and Wake Forest, the defending champions, headline the twelve teams announced for the 2024 Jackson T. Stephens Cup, one of the most anticipated events in collegiate golf. Scheduled for October 21-23, the tournament will be hosted by the historic Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club in Nichols Hills, Oklahoma.
Now in its fourth year, the Jackson T. Stephens Cup has quickly established itself as a premier event on the collegiate golf calendar. Named in honor of the late Jackson (Jack) T. Stephens, former Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club, the tournament continues to grow in prestige, offering top-level competition for both men’s and women’s teams.
“Dad would be very humbled by what we’ve accomplished in just three short years, transforming the Stephens Cup into the premier collegiate golf tournament,” said Tournament Chairman Warren Stephens, son of Jack Stephens.
“This event honors his legacy, and the field of talented student-athletes reflects all that he admired about amateur golf. We are particularly excited to host the tournament at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, a course with deep ties to one of the greatest amateurs, Charlie Coe, who was a close friend of my father. It’s special to me that the event will be held here, and I know Mr. Coe’s influence will resonate with the players and coaches.”
The 2024 Jackson T. Stephens Cup will once again feature a strong lineup, including twelve NCAA Division I men’s and women’s teams, along with standout players from U.S. Military Service Academies and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) competing individually.

Last year, Wake Forest’s women’s team claimed victory, avenging their 2022 runner-up finish. Macy Pate sealed the win with a par on the 16th hole, winning her match 4&2 after being 1 down early in the round.
“Wake Forest is looking forward to returning to the Stephens Cup this fall,” said Wake Forest Women’s Golf Head Coach Kim Lewellen. “It’s one of our favorite events, offering outstanding venues and top competition, providing incredible experiences for our student-athletes.”
On the men’s side, Florida State will also be back to defend their title after defeating the University of Arizona 3&2 in 2023. Senior Brett Roberts secured the final point for the Seminoles, clinching victory on the last hole.
“We are excited to once again compete in the Stephens Cup,” said Florida State Men’s Golf Head Coach Trey Jones. “The Stephens family has done so much for golf at every level, and their continued support of collegiate golf is invaluable. I know this year’s tournament will be an unforgettable experience for our players.”
The 2024 competition will include 54 holes of stroke play over the first two days, followed by 18 holes of team match play on the final day. The stroke-play portion will determine the seeding for the match play rounds, with the top four men’s and women’s teams advancing to compete for the title. The stroke-play medalists will be honored on October 22, ahead of the match play finals.
Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, the host venue for this year’s event, is regarded as one of the most challenging courses in Oklahoma. Designed by Perry Maxwell, the course is known for its fast, firm greens and will provide a true test of skill for the field.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the talented men and women competing in the 2024 Jackson T. Stephens Cup,” said Honorary Chairman David McCubbin. “Our club’s storied history, coupled with this prestigious collegiate event, will make for an unforgettable experience for competitors and spectators alike.”
Additional invitations to individual players from HBCUs and U.S. Military Service Academies will be announced leading up to the event. Golf Channel will provide live coverage of the three-day tournament. Tickets will be available for purchase beginning July 1 on the official event website, www.StephensCup.com.
