The Northeast Amateur Invitational is back from June 19 to June 22 at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, RI, the second event in the 2024 Elite Amateur Golf Series. Last year, Nick Dunlap chased down Caleb Surratt for the win. Since then, both players have turned pro, with Dunlap winning the American Express and joining the PGA Tour and Surratt joining Jon Rahm's team on LIV Golf.

The Northeast Amateur has a historic list of winners, including Ben Crenshaw, Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa, Luke Donald, Scott Hoch, John Cook, Hal Sutton, and David Duval. It has been held annually at the Donald Ross-designed Wannamoisett Country Club since 1962.

The event is limited to 90 elite players; there is a cut after 54 holes, and the entire tournament is played in twosomes.

Wannamoisett Country Club is a 1914 Donald Ross design known as one of the finest in New England. Thick, rough lines are narrow fairways, while the large greens are undulating and hard to read.

"Golf Digest" rated this course 47th best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for the years 1995-96 and 52nd in 1997-98. The same publication also rated it as the "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998.

8:24 a.m. ET: Brendan Valdes, David Ford

Two of the top collegiate players in the country, Valdes is coming off a national championship with Auburn and playing in the U.S. Open, while Ford is coming off a successful season at North Carolina. Ford also caddied for his brother, Maxwell Ford, at the Sunnehanna Amateur, where he finished T2.

8:48 a.m. ET: Jackson Van Paris, Ben Warian

Van Paris won the 2023 Sunnehanna Amateur, while Warian won the 2024 Sunnehanna Amateur. Match play at Sunnehanna Country Club to determine a true champion?

8:56 a.m. ET: Blades Brown, Gray Albright

Brown is one of the top juniors in the game and had a successful pro debut at the Myrtle Beach Classic, while Albright helped lead the Florida State Seminoles to a runner-up finish at the NCAA championships. 

9:04 a.m. ET: Gordon Sargent, Stewart Hagestad

Both players are coming off playing in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. Sargent is ranked No. 1 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings and finished T2 at the NCAA individual championships. Hagestad is ranked No. 3 in the AmateurGolf.com Mid-Amateur Rankings and won the Crump Cup, Azalea Invitational, and the 2023 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship

1:18 p.m. ET: Miles Russell, Max Herendeen

Russell, who had a successful pro debut on the Korn Ferry Tour and will make his PGA Tour debut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit in two weeks. Herendeen finished T2 at the NCAA individual championships and held the 54-hole lead at the Sunnehanna Amateur.
