Big 12 Championship: Texas uses strong final round to dominate

Texas won the Big 12 men's championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Tex., by an impressive 18 shots. The team finished 25-under with team rounds of 285-291-275-276 to secure the win.
The Longhorn's final-round 12-under 276 helped Texas run away with the team victory
Texas won five straight from 2013-2017 but hasn't won since then.
Oklahoma finished in solo second place at 7-under and 18 shots behind the winners. Oklahoma State finished in solo third place at 2-under. Baylor finished in solo fourth place at 3-over, and West Virginia finished in solo fifth place at 5-over. Houston and Texas Tech finished T6 at 7-over, and Kansas finished in solo eighth place at 11-over.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State had won the last five Big 12 championships during the Texas drought. Oklahoma took home the titles in 2022 and 2023.
In the individual competition, Gustav Frimodt of TCU, Preston Stout of Oklahoma State, and Ty Gingerich of Cincinnati shared the medalist honors at 9-under.
Frimodt shot 70-75-66-68, Stout shot 74-69-67-69, and Gingerich shot 65-74-69-71 to all reach 9-under. Frimodt is ranked No. 42, Stout is ranked No. 273, and Gingerich is ranked No. 138 in the Golfweek/AmatuerGolf.com World Rankings.
Ryder Cowan of Oklahoma and Santiago De La Fuente of Houston finished T4 at 7-under, and Brian Stark of Texas and Johnny Keefer of Baylor finished T6 at 5-under. De La Fuente won the 2023 Latin America Amateur and recently made his first appearance in the Masters Tournament.
