Playing the Masters as an amateur is something that anyone will remember for the rest of their lives. Playing the final round with Tiger Woods is another story.

After being the only amateur to make the cut at the Masters Tournament, Neal Shipley shot 8-over 80 in the third round and is currently 11-over and is T52. And he is paired with Tiger Woods for the final round.

Shipley shot rounds of 71-76 to comfortably make the cut and earn a tee time this weekend. In the third round, the Ohio State graduate student recorded six bogeys and a double bogey on No. 18.

Check out our full first two recaps of Shipley's play this week.

ROUND TWO RECAP

Neal Shipley has earned himself a tee time at Augusta National this weekend.

Shipley, a graduate student at The Ohio State University, shot rounds of 71-76 to shoot 3-over in the first two rounds of the 88th Masters Tournament to make the cut.

Shipley was T17 and 1-under after the first round and started his second round with birdies on Holes No. 2 and 3. Friday's second round played tough, with winds gusting and golfers making big numbers all over the course. Shipley recorded six bogeys, a double bogey on No. 11, and birdies on No. 13 and 15 to finish 3-over and T30 to safely fall within the cutline.

The cut ended up at 6-over.

He made bogeys on holes No. 4, 7, 10, 12, 14, and 18.

Shipley is currently ranked No. 12 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings. He finished ahead of major winners Jordan Spieth, Sam Burns, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Brian Harman, and Adam Scott, amongst others.

Stewart Hagestad finished 8-over and T71 after a 6-over 78 second-round, Christo Lamprecht finished 8-over with Hagestad, Santiago De La Fuente finished 10-over, and Jasper Stubbs finished 12-over to miss the cut.

ROUND ONE RECAP

Neal Shipley, a graduate student at The Ohio State University and the 2023 U.S. Amateur runner-up, was ready for his first trip to the Masters Tournament at Augusta National. His first round proved that.

Shipley shot a first-round 1-under 71 to sit T17 heading into his second round. The long haired Buckeye was a model of consistency, recording three birdies and two bogeys to go along with 13 pars in very windy conditions.

Shipley made it a point not to get too caught up in the moment when he gets to Augusta and to make sure he still takes it all one shot at a time.

"When you drive down Magnolia Lane, it really doesn’t even feel real," Shipley told amateurgolf.com in March. "It is crazy to think that what I did at the U.S. Amateur led me to that. The biggest thing is thinking through the golf course before the week because there are so many things to learn."

He was also able to connect with PGA Tour professional Russell Henley, who Ohio State assistant coach Jimmy Beck knows, as they are both from Columbus, Ga.

"He has been super helpful and brought some insights," Shipley said about Henley. "He is really underrated and has played great for years now." Shipley finished two shots ahead of Henley in the opening round.

Shipley is currently ranked No. 12 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings.

Christo Lamprecht and Stewart Hagestad are T54 at 2-over.

Lamprecht had an up-and-down round, at one point being tied for the lead at 3-under through his first eight holes. However, bogeys on holes No. 9, 10, and 11 saw him fall back even par, and, after a birdie on No. 13, Lamprecht made a triple bogey on the par-5 No. 15, hitting the ball in the water on his third shot and three-putting.

He didn't hit a bad shot on his approach, but too much spin saw the ball hit the middle of the green and funnel all the way off and into the water.

Hagestad recorded three birdies and five bogeys in his first round.

Santiago De La Fuente shot a first-round 4-over 76 and is T74 after the opening 18 holes. He recorded an early bogey and an eagle on the front nine to make the turn at 1-under, but the back nine was much tougher. He made one birdie and six bogeys on the final nine holes, including bogeys on holes No. 16, 17, and 18.

Jasper Stubbs shot an over 80 and is T88. He recorded two birdies, six bogeys, and two double bogeys on holes No. 15 and 16, finding the water on both of those holes and twice on No. 15. He played the final four holes at 6-over.

Tee times will be altered tomorrow, as some of the field did not finish their first rounds.
