Valspar Collegiate: Luke Clanton leads Florida State to day one lead

Clanton leads the individual competition by two shots and the Seminoles lead the team competition by six shots
Luke Clanton has put together an impressive season for the Florida State Seminoles, and now he is looking to add the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian in Palm City, Fla., to his resume.
Clanton shot a first-round 6-under 65 and a second-round 3-under 68 to get to 9-under. The Florida State standout recorded ten birdies, three bogeys, and an eagle throughout the 36-hole day.
Austin Greaser of North Carolina is in solo second place at 7-under, and Wenyi Ding of Arizona State, Ben Lorenz of Oklahoma, Christian Castillo of Arkansas, and Marshall Meisel of Wake Forest are all T3 at 5-under.
Michael Brennan of Wake Forest is in solo seventh place at 4-under.
Clanton is currently ranked No. 6 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings. He is coming off a win at the Seminole Intercollegiate, a T11 finish at the Jones Cup, a T7 finish at the Watersound Invitational, and a T8 finish at the Amer Ari Invitational.
Florida State leads the team competition by six shots at 10-under over Wake Forest, who is in solo second place at 4-under.
The Seminoles shot team rounds of 4-under 280 and 6-under 278 to get to 10-under.
Arizona State and Vanderbilt, who are seeking their sixth win of the season, are T3 at 3-under, and Arkansas is in solo fifth place at 2-under.
Oklahoma is in solo sixth place at 1-under, No. 1 ranked North Carolina is in solo seventh place at 1-over, and Texas A&M is in solo eighth place at 5-over.
The Floridian, designed by Gary Player in 1996, was the private course of Wayne Huizenga and was recently sold to Jim Crane. The course has been redesigned by Tom Fazio, with a re- opening in November of 2011. Butch Harmon has signed on to build a Harmon Golf School at the Floridian.
