The Johnnie-O at Sea Island: Notre Dame, Jacob Modleski complete the sweep

The Notre Dame men's golf team dominated The Johnnie-O at Sea Island at the Plantation Course in St. Simon’s Island, GA, posting an impressive 32-under 832 with rounds of 287-270-275 to secure a comfortable 10-shot victory.
Texas managed rounds of 287-276-279, finishing as the runner-up at 22-under par, while Michigan State claimed third place with rounds of 287-276-280 at 21-under par.
In the individual competition, Notre Dame freshman Jacob Modleski shot an outstanding 12-under par, sharing the medalist honors with Michigan State junior Asthon McCulloch, the recent winner of the Canadian Amateur Championship in November 2023.
Modleski won the 2024 Jones Cup Invitational in January and is currently ranked No. 74 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings. He also finished T3 at The Invitational at The Ford.

After 36 holes, Modleski stood fifth at 5-under 139, trailing McCulloch by nine strokes. However, a final round of 65, featuring two eagles and five birdies, propelled Modleski to join McCulloch at the top of the leaderboard by the end of the tournament. McCulloch recorded a tournament-low 62 in his second round.
Modleski carded rounds of 72-67-65, while McCulloch posted rounds of 68-62-74 during the competition.
Notre Dame saw three more athletes finishing inside the top-10. Palmer Jackson secured a third-place finish at 10-under par with rounds of 69-65-72. Christopher Bagnall finished T6 at 7-under par with rounds of 70-68-71, and Nate Stevens carded rounds of 74-68-68 to register a T8 finish at the tournament.
