South Florida narrowly clinched the championship at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, played out at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla., by shooting a team score of 38-under 826, edging out Toledo, who finished just a stroke behind at 37-under 827
South Florida shot rounds of 275-273-278, while Toledo shot 276-272-279.
Indiana finished in third place at 27-under, and North Florida finished in fourth place at 23-under.
The USF team that recently won the USF Invitational marked their second consecutive victory at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in FL.
The last time the Bulls won back-to-back outings was in March 2019 at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate and the USF Invitational. The last Bulls to record consecutive tournament individual championship honors were Albin Bergstrom (Windom Memorial Classic) and Luke Gifford (Marquette Intercollegiate) in the Fall of 2019.
In the individual competition, Brock Healy, a graduate transfer from Kennesaw State, shot rounds of 68-66-69 to finish in a three-way tie with Palmer Yenrick and Barend Botha of Toledo at 13-under 203. Healy was later awarded the medalist honors via tie-breaker, marking his maiden collegiate title.
USF Senior Jake Peacock shot rounds of 66-66-72 to finish fourth at 12-under 204.
Healy began the final round in fourth place with a score of 10-under 134, trailing Yenrick by four strokes. Yenrick had a commanding four-shot lead, courtesy of his consecutive rounds of 65-65, for a total of 14-under par.
Healy’s final round 69 consisted of four birdies and a double-bogey on hole No. 10, which was just enough to join Yenrick and Botha of Toledo at the top of the leaderboard.
The Bulls' 36-hole total of 28-under 548 on Sunday tied the program record for the second time this season, matching the 36-hole total at the USF Invitational on October 9-10. Notably, the 28-under par total against par also equaled the program's previous record for the lowest 36-hole score against par, a milestone initially set at the 2021-22 Marquette Intercollegiate.
