Will King bounced back from a disappointing start to his sophomore campaign the very next chance he got.
After finishing T71 at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, a second-round 5-under 66 at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Maple Plain, Minn., the lowest round by any golfer at the Gopher Invitational, propelled King of Kansas to win at 8-under.
King shot rounds of 68-66-71 to win the tournament.
Walker Isley of the University of North Carolina Wilmington finished just one shot behind King at 7-under to finish in solo second place and lead UNCW to the team victory.
Patrick Sparks of UNCW finished in solo third place at 5-under. Sparks shot the lowest final round with a 4-under 67.
Jacob Modleski of Notre Dame finished in solo fourth place at 4-under, and Cade Breitenstine of Kent State finished in solo fifth place at 3-under.
In the team competition, UNCW held off the Kent State Golden Flashes to win by five shots with a score of 7-under (845).
Kent State finished in solo second place at 2-under (850), and Kansas finished in solo third place at 1-over (853).
