Two-time U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Stewart Hagestad has won a lot of tournaments on some of the top courses in the world, including Seminole and Los Angeles Country Club-North.

He also won the Silver Cup as the low amateur at the 2017 Masters at famed Augusta National.

On Sunday, he'll have a chance to add Pine Valley Golf Club to his portfolio after the top mid-amateur in the world advanced to the semifinals of the Crump Cup being held at the world-renowned course in southern New Jersey.

Hagestad, the No. 2 seed in the championship bracket, will be joined in the semifinals of the championship division by Jimmy Ellis, Tug Maude and Stephen Behr, Jr.

All four semifinalists won a pair of matches on Saturday to keep their championship hopes alive.

After defeating Carlton Forrester, 4 and 2 in the morning, Hagestad downed Garrett Rank, 3 and 2, in a battle between two of the top mid-amateurs in the world.

Hagestad will face Ellis in a semifinal match on Sunday, after the Venetia, Pa. native toppled 2014 U.S. Mid-Am finalist Brad Nurski, 2 and 1 and Gregor Orlando, 3 and 1. Earlier in the day, Orlando defeated No. 3 seed Matt Van Zandt, 1 up, to advance to the round of 16.

Maude defeated a pair of former U.S. Mid-Amateur champions in Nathan Smith (3 and 2) and Scott Harvey (2 and 1) to advance to the semis.

After a 4 and 3 win over Jeff Scohy, Behr, AmateurGolf.com's 2021 Mid-Amateur of the Year, had a tougher time with current Met Amateur champion Bradford Tilley before prevailing, 1 up. In the second flight, former Stocker Cup champion Joe Sanders will meet Jeff Osberg in the top half of the draw with the winner advancing to the final against either Robert Couture or Drew Kittleson.

Andrew Price, Bobby Leopold, Michael Barbosa and Charles Waddell make up the semifinals in the third flight.

Senior Championship Flight

Dan Sullivan upset top-seed former Crump Cup and U.S. Senior Amateur champion Chip Lutz, 3 and 2 to advance to the semifinals against U.S. Walker Cup captain and current British Senior Amateur champion Mike McCoy, who downed Bob Royak, 3 and 2.

In the bottom half of the bracket, Englishman Rupert Kellock is through to the semifinals after defeating Dave Ryan, 3 and 2. He'll face Tommy Brennan, who was a 4 and 3 winner over Matt Sughrue.

John McClure, Robert Gerwin, Robert Funk and Michael Kelley earned their spots in the semifinals of the senior's second flight.
