Texas Tech went head-to-head with a pair of top-10 teams over the final 18 holes of the Mountain View Collegiate on Sunday and emerged with its second win in as many weeks.
The Red Raiders, ranked 23rd nationally by Golfweek/Sagarin, shot a final-round score of 4-under 284 to overcome a three-shot deficit at the start of the day to edge No. 6 San Jose State by a single stroke to claim the team title. Third-ranked Oklahoma State finished third at 17-under after struggling to a final round 293 (+5) on Sunday.
At 25-under 839, Texas Tech broke the school's 54-hole scoring record and took down five schools ranked inside the top-25 of the Golfweek/Sagarin poll in the process. The Red Raiders, who were coming off a win at Trinity Forest last weekend, won the tournament for the third time since 2012.
San Jose State, which was coming off their second win of the season at the
Juli Inkster Invitational two weeks ago, set a 54-hole scoring record at 24-under 840, only to fall one stroke shy of the team title.
Four Texas Tech players carded rounds of par or better on Sunday, with freshman
Chiara Horder setting the pace with a 2-under 70.
Anna Dong and Gale Dumez turned in rounds of 71 while Amy Taylor posted an even-par round of 72.
Dumez tied for third at 8-under 208, two strokes behind medalist
Kajal Mistry of Arkansas. San Jose State's
Natasha Andrea Oon finished second at 9-under 207 after carding rounds of 67-68-72.
Mistry gained a share of the lead with
Han-Hsuan Yu of Oklahoma State and Oon after a bogey-free 67 in Saturday's second round. She polished off her first collegiate victory with a 1-under 71 on Sunday to finish at 10-under for the event.
