Robert Keilch holds 36-hole lead at Agave Amateur
Robert Keilch will take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the Agave Amateur after the 18-year-old Mater Dei High School senior fired a 5-under 66 on Sunday at Shadow Hills Golf Club in Indio, Calif.
Keilch shaved two strokes off his opening round of 68 and at 8-under 134, holds a one-stroke lead over
Brady Siravo and Canadian
Cooper Humphreys heading into the final 18 holes on Monday.
After making the turn in 35, Keilch warmed up along with the temperatures in the Coachella Valley, adding birdies on holes 10, 12, 13 and 15 for an inward nine of 31 and a second round of 66.
Keilch first entered the public eye two years ago as a 16-year-old when he set the course record at a local U.S. Open qualifier at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, Calif., carding a 9-under 61.
The low rounds of Sunday, however, belonged to Siravo and
Ryan Voois, who carded a pair of 6-under 65s. Siravo, a senior at Jesuit High School in Sacramento, had eight birdies on his Sunday card while Voois got off to a blazing start with birdies on three of his first four holes. Voois, who signed a national letter of intent to attend Illinois next fall, is just two off the lead heading into Monday's final round.
The Agave Amateur is part of the Troon Saguaro Amateur Series.
