Ken Kinkopf (Jupiter, Fla.) won the Society of Seniors (SOS) Golfweek Challenge at the Sand Hollow Resort in Utah, prevailing in a playoff over Don O'Connor (McKinney, Texas).
O'Connor was in the driver's seat, up two shots with two holes to go, but Kinkopf birdied the final two holes to force the playoff, then won on the first playoff hole.
For Kinkopf, it continued his brilliance in Society of Seniors events in 2019. He has now won three of six, having won the Senior Masters in Palm Springs and the Jack Hesler in Kentucky. He has also won the North & South Senior and the Golfweek POY Classic.
With the win he has put himself in good position in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Player-of-the-Year points race. He is now is the second spot, within reach of Doug Hanzel, who has won six times this year and is gunning for his fourth AGC Senior POY honor.
In the Super Senior division, John Armstrong erased a four-shot deficit with a final-round 69 for a one-shot win over Dan Parkinson.
In the Legends division, John Osborne shot a 68 to come from five behind to get into a playoff, and then beat George Washburn on the second playoff hole.
