SUNSET, SC (March 25, 2018) - All five players in the Furman lineup finished inside the top-15 and all five contributed at least one round to the cause as the Paladins finished 30-under to win the Clemson Invitational by 10-strokes.
Finishing in the runner-up position was Michigan State (-20), host Clemson (-18) was third, Vanderbilt (-2) was fourth and in fifth it was Ohio State (E).
On a cloudy and chilly day at The Reserve at Lake Keowee Furman was led by Natalie Srinivasan's (T2; -9) final round 3-under 69 that included five birdies and just two bogeys. For Furman the win was their second of the season.
Behind Srinivasan who finished just one shot out of a tie for first in the individual race came Jacqueline Bendrick (T7; -6), Alice Chen (T7; -6), Reona Hirai (T10; -5) and Haylee Harford (T15; -3).
In the medalist race Clemson's Alice Hewson was able to just beat out the field with a 10-under finish that saw her earn the victory by a stroke. A now three-time winner during her Clemson career, Hewson combined rounds of 70-69-67. For much of the final round Hewson didn't have much going but four birdies over the course of the final eight-holes, including one on the last proved to be the difference.
Overall during her Sunday final round Hewson birdied five-times while not dropping a stroke.
Srinivasan shared second place with Allyson Geer (Michigan State) at 9-under while Sarah Burnham (Michigan State), Sydney Legacy (Clemson) and Valerie Tanguay (Oklahoma) all shared fourth at 7-under.
