MACON, GA (September 30, 2017) - Entering the final round with a five stroke lead, Bob Royak of Alpharetta provided another strong performance to capture his first individual GSGA title. Royak finished the final round at 3-over-par to post a (-6) overall and three day total of (64, 67, 73) 204 for the Championship. The 31st edition of the Georgia Senior Championship was played at Idle Hour Club, September, 28-30.

Trying to catch Royak was John Skeadas II of Savannah, Peter Persons of Macon, and Jack Larkin of Atlanta who all finished T2 1-under-par overall. Former champion Jeff Belk of Marietta had the low round of the day posting a 72 and finishing up overall at T10 4-over-par.

This was Royak's second GSGA title but first individually. He partnered with Doug Hanzel to win the 2006 Georgia Four-Ball Championship at Wilmington Island Club in Savannah.

"I have played a lot of GSGA events, to win one is very special," said Royak. "It doesn't happen a lot so this is very special."

There were two members of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in the field. Peter Persons of Macon was inducted as part of the Class of 2011 and Wright Waddell of Columbus will be inducted as part of the Class of 2018.
