ST. JOSEPH, MO (June 25, 2017) - On Sunday at St. Joseph Country Club No. 2 Brad Nurski was looking for his second Missouri Amateur while top-seed Sam Migdal was hoping to capture his second consecutive title.
With just three holes left Midgal was 1 up and it looked like he would be the one to lift the trophy for a second time but Nurski had other ideas. The 2015 U.S. Mid-Amateur runner-up birdied to win the 16th hole to square the match and then as Midgal struggled to close won the next two holes to capture the title 2 up.
When the dust settled Nurski had flipped the script in a matter minutes as he won the last three holes of the 36-hole championship match.
In a rematch of a semifinal match last year Nurski won the first hole of the contest and led 2 up at the halfway point in a tilt that never saw either player lead by more than two holes. The difference remained 2 up in favor of Nurski for much of the front nine on the second loop before Midgal began to make his move with with wins on the 28th and 30th holes to tie the match. Following a pair of halves Midgal won the 33rd hole to take what would prove to be a short lived lead.
Migdal reached the finals thanks to a 2&1 win over No. 24 Kyle Szyhowski in the semifinals while Nurski handled No. 19 Brevin Giebler 3&1.
