Chip Lutz and David Nelson are leading the Senior Division after the second round at Whisper Rock Golf Club

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (May 12, 2017) - Heading into the final day of the National Invitational at Whisper Rock the duo of Tyler Crawford and Joe Sanders are 12-under and leading the way by three shots. After beginning the second round at Whisper Rock Golf Club two shots off the pace Crawford and Sanders fired a 9-under 63 on Friday to storm into the lead. Kris Marshall and Andrew Price; Ben Marsh and Pat Moore are tied for second at 9-under while Casey Boyns and Jerry Ledzinski; Trent Dilfer and Drew Kittleson are sharing fourth at 7-under. SENIOR DIVISION Chip Lutz and David Nelson continue to lead the Senior Division and they will pace the field by two-strokes. Lutz and Nelson are currently 9-under following rounds of 67-68. Owen Joyner and Jeff New sit in second place at 7-under, Tim Brown and Dale Roehrs; Jerry Hudgins and Mike Rice are sharing third at 6-under while in fifth the tandem of Brian Tennyson and Don Walsworth are 5-under. ROUND ONE RECAP The leaderboard after the first round of the National Invitational at Whisper Rock is a crowded one with three teams tied for the lead at 5-under and an additional 15 teams 1-under or better and within four shots of the lead. Following day one at Whisper Rock Golf Club the lead teams are comprised of former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer and Drew Kittleson; Ben Marsh and Pat Moore; John Sawin and Stephen Summers. The duo of Andrew Medley and Jonas Mikals are one shot back at 4-under while the teams of Casey Boyns and Jerry Ledzinski; Tyler Crawford and Joe Sanders; David Khoury and Drew Stoltz are sharing fifth at 3-under. SENIOR DIVISION In the Senior Division the pace is being set by the 5-under tandem of Chip Lutz and David Nelson. However, similar to the Mid-Amateur Division the opening day leaderboard is a tight one. Owen Joyner and Jeff New; Eddie Lyons and Billy McBee are tied for second at 4-under, Mike Holm and Greg McNeil are fourth at 3-under while the teams of Jerry Hudgins and Mike Rice; Larry Nunez and John Pigg; Brian Tennyson and Don Walsworth are tied for fifth at 2-under. An additional eight teams are tied for fifth at 1-under.
