UC Davis Fifth Year Senior Ben Corfee wins El Macero Classic

Seattle University closed with a 1-under final day to win the team title
DAVIS, CA (April 14, 2017) - UC Davis fifth year senior Ben Corfee won his first collegiate event at the El Macero Classic. Playing on his home course, El Macero Country Club, in front of family and friends, Corfee battled rain to emerge victorious with a 1-under showing.
Corfee, who has played in a number of AmateurGolf.com events, was the only player to finish the week under-par as he combined rounds of 71-74-70.
During the final round Corfee played steady as he carded three birdies and just one bogey for a 2-under tally. The closing round birdies came on Nos. 4, 9 and 16.
Alex Lee (Fresno State) was second at 1-over, Grant Booth (Nevada) placed third at 2-over, in fourth it was Kevin Murphy (Oregon State) at 3-over while Trevor Clayton (Fresno State) placed fifth at 4-over.
In the team competition Seattle University took home the title thanks to a 1-under final round that left them a shot in front of Fresno State and Oregon State.
Seattle completed the week 30-over and they were led by the 6-over Patrick Sato who tied for sixth.
