ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth: Curtis Luck misses 54-hole cut

PERTH, Australia (February 18, 2017) -- Just 24 players made it through to the final day of the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth at Lake Karrinyup and unfortunately Curtis Luck fell a few shots short.
Luck came up short because the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth isn't your standard 72-hole stroke play event. Following the completion of play on Saturday the top 24 players advanced to a six-hole match play knockout phase with the the top eight players earning a bye into the last 16. On Sunday the remaining players will play five more six-hole matches until a winner is found.
Coming into the final round Luck knew he had some work to do and he performed well, shooting a 1-under 71 but at 4-under for the week he was four shots outside of the top 24.
Despite not being around for the final day Luck, who tied for 47th, still gets credit for making his third consecutive cut on the European Tour. A good sign certainly as his first career Masters appearance looms just over a month away.
ROUND TWO RECAP
Curtis Luck will be around for at least one more day at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth at Lake Karrinyup. On Friday Luck fired a 3-under 69 and he is 3-under for the week.
Friday got off to a slow start for Luck as he bogeyed the first but he recovered nicely with four birdies and no more slip ups the rest of the way. Luck recorded his birdies on the third, seventh, 10th and 15th holes.

ROUND ONE RECAP
It wasn't the start that Curtis Luck had been hoping for.
Playing on home soil in the first round of the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth at Lake Karrinyup Country Club, Luck turned in a first round even-par 72 that left him tied for 80th place and with some work to do to make the 36-hole cut. However, despite being so far back in the standings, Luck is only six shots behind 6-under leaders Mark Foster and Brett Rumford.
Opening his week on the back nine Luck got off to a fast start with an opening hole birdie. However, bogeys on Nos. 11 and 14 followed to drop the second ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings to 1-over. The trip to the black was a short lived one as on the ensuing hole, the par-5 15th, Luck poured in an eagle to return 1-under.
After turning in 1-under 35, Luck reached 2-under with a first hole birdie only to give everything back with a double-bogey one hole later. Luck then capped his round with a sixth hole bogey and a ninth hole birdie.
For Luck this is his fourth European Tour event start since the beginning of December. In his previous starts Luck missed the cut in the first two events --the Australian PGA Championship and Maybank Championship-- before making the cut in each of the last two at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
His best finish was a tie for 23rd at 5 under in his last start at the beginning of February in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
The 2016 U.S. Amateur and Asia-Pacific Amateur champion will begin his second round on the first hole at 11:40 a.m. local time. Luck is playing the first two rounds alongside Ryan Fox and Jeev Milkha Singh.
