RANCHO SANTA FE, CA (February 14, 2017) -- With four players finishing inside the top-15 UC Santa Barbara cruised to the a victory at the The Farms Collegiate Invitational. On the final day the Gauchos didn't leave anything to doubt combining to go 10-under for the day. The stellar final day pushed UC Santa Barbara to 19-under for the week and gave them an 15-stroke triumph.
Playing at The Farms Golf Club UC Santa Barbara was led by junior Zach Smith (66-68-76) and freshman Brett Bennett (68-70-72), both whom shared third at 6-under. Rounding out the group of Gauchos in the top-15 were junior Willy Moffly (5th; -4) and freshman Brandon Bauman (T15; +4).
In the medalist race Yannick Emmert of Wichita State took home the tile by combining rounds of 63-72-68 to finish 13-under and five-strokes in front of Sacramento States Aaron Beverly (-8).
Emmert set the stage for his week with his first round bogey-free 9-under 63. In that round Emmert recorded nine birdies, including five in a six hole span from Nos. 8-13.
Behind UC Santa Barbara in the team standings are Wichita State (-3) in second, Cal Poly (+11) in third, UC Irvine (+18) in fourth and Seattle University (+24) in fifth.
