Inaugural Gobbler Amateur begins Monday

TUCSON, AZ (November 18, 2016) -- The inaugural Gobbler Amateur tees off on Monday, November 21, at Sewailo Golf Club. The Gobbler is presented by the Saguaro Amateur, one of the world’s premier amateur golf tournament which is held in early January at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.
The Gobbler consists of top men’s amateur players highlighted by Texas Tech golfer and 2016 Saguaro Amateur Champion, Wes Artac of Kingwood, Texas.
Included in the field are a number of top local players led by John Souza (Phoenix), Christopher Meyers (Tucson), Max Donohue and Austin Stadeli of the University of Arizona plus Ben Harden.
The 54-hole Gobbler Amateur will be competed from November 21-23. Sewailo is considered one of the top courses in Arizona by multiple publications and plays host to the University of Arizona golf teams.

Gobbler Amateur
Founded in 2016, the Gobbler Invitational is a 54-hole
stroke play event with no cut. It is open to male
amateur golfers with an index of 3.0 or less. A variety
of exemption categories are offered, based mostly on
rankings and USGA appearances. The top 10 finishers
will be exempt into
the Saguaro Amateur in January.
