USC erases 13-shot Deficit to claim ANNIKA Intercollegiate
USC with tournament host Annika Sorestam (Trojan Athletics)
REUNION, FL. (September 27, 2016) -- The USC Trojans entered the final round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in 4th place and 13 shots behind of leader UCLA.
Led by sophomore Robynn Ree's 5-under 67 and senior Karen Chung's 4-under 68, the Trojans took advantage of a poor day by UCLA and succesfully defended their title.
The Trojans tallied a three round total of 840 (-24) which was 12 shots higher than their school record performance in last year's event, but was enough to beat runner-up Arkansas by two shots and UCLA by four. Senior Victoria Morgan lead the Trojans with a tie for 8th finish after three consecutive under-par rounds (69, 70, 70) capped off by two clutch back-nine birdies.
Arkansas sophomore Maria Fassi took the individual title after rounds of 71, 66, and 68 (-11). Fassi led the field in birdies (18) and her 205 total ties the three-round Arkansas scoring record.
