Steve Rose of New York City seizes early lead
The Senior Dixie Amateur Championship is a 54 hole stroke play tournament. The competition is being held at the Palm-Aire Country Club in Pompano Beach, Florida. All play is on the Oaks course designed by George and Tom Fazio.
The field battled strong gusting winds and cold temperatures by South Florida standards with Steve Rose of New York City seizing the early lead in the Senior Division with a first round score of 72, 1-over-par. The field includes five past Senior Dixie Amateur Champions.
David King of leads the Super Senior Division with a first round score of 78, 7-over-par. Jay Fitzgerald is in second place with a 79.
Play continues on Saturday morning with the final round to be played on Sunday.
