BEAUFORT, SC (September 8, 2016) -- The 2016 Devlin Invitational Four-Ball is set to begin Friday morning at Secession Golf Club. The 54-hole event was founded in 1978 and this year will celebrate its 28th year of existence.
The tournament is aided by The Devlin Foundation, Inc. which supports The First Tee of the Low Country and the Achieving Competitive Excellence Grant.
After being played at Walden Golf Club on Lake Conroe in Montgomery, TX the Devlin moved to Secession Golf Club in 2011. The Secession Golf Club is of course designed by Devlin Foundation, Inc. president and former PGA Tour player Bruce Devlin.
Secession Golf Club is an all-walking par-72 (36-36), links style golf course that plays at 7,068 yards and has fourteen holes routed along the scenic tidal marshes of the Lowcountry, providing both a challenge and exceptional natural beauty. The open, exposed nature of the course guarantees a different golf experience almost every round because of the shifting winds and tides.
Last year Chip Anderson and Steve Nichols captured the Devlin Invitational Four-Ball by the slimiest of margins.
The 2016 edition will begin on Friday and run through Sunday. First round tee times start at 8:00 a.m. EST and run through 11:30 a.m.
