Oklahoma State goes low to win The Carmel Cup
Oklahoma State following second straight The Carmel Cup title

PEBBLE BEACH, CA (September 4, 2016) -- With a 16-
under final round No. 4 Oklahoma State finished 38-
under and overcame a four-stroke deficit to win The
Carmel Cup for the second straight year. No. 9 Georgia
led after each of the first two rounds at Pebble Beach
Golf Links before finishing 30-under and in second
place.
Oklahoma State made their charge thanks to all six
players putting together rounds of even-par or better
during the final round. The Cowboys were led by
sophomore Nick Heinen who finished fourth at 11-
under.
Heinen fired rounds of 69-66 in each of the first two
rounds before finishing with a 2-under 70. During his
final round Heinen eagled the par-5 2nd, birdied five
holes --including the last two-- and bogeyed five. This
was the second straight year that Heinen finished fourth
in The Carmel Cup.
The second highest finishing Poke was junior Sam
Stevens who was 8-under and fifth. Stevens put
together rounds of 70-69-69. His final round included
four birdies and a bogey.
Three Oklahoma State players were tied for 14th at 5-
under; sophomore Hayden Wood, freshman Viktor
Hovland and sophomore Zach Bauchou.
Fredrik Nilehn of Texas Tech broke free of a four-way tie
to earn
medalist winners at The Carmel Cup. Nilehn, 14-under,
fired his second consecutive 5-under 67 to go along
with a first round 68. A junior from Sweden, Nilehn
birdied six holes and bogeyed one during his closing
round.

event hosted by Vanderbilt University and played at

Number 1 ranked public golf course in the United
States, Pebble Beach Golf Links. Its field comprised
mostly of
top teams from the Big 12 and SEC. There are team
(best five scores out of six
players each round) and individual competitions.
