John Hornbeck captures Wyoming Senior Amateur

With rounds of 68-74 John Hornbeck finished two-strokes in front of the field at Powell Golf Club
POWELL, WY (August 28, 2016) -- John Hornbeck took the lead on the first day of they Wyoming Senior Amateur and then held on during the final round. Hornbeck began the weekend with a 4-under 68 before surviving a 2-over 74 to finish 2-under and ahead of the field by two.
Playing at Powell Golf Club, Hornbeck got his tournament started with a seven birdie, three bogey effort. 2-over after his first five holes holes on Saturday, Hornbeck rolled in birdies on four of the five next holes to reach red figures.
In the final round Hornbeck reached 6-under with a 10th hole birdie but then he started to slide backwards. Over the course of the next four holes the wire-to-wire winner double-bogeyed two holes and bogeyed another.
The only instance that kept Hornbeck afloat was his birdie on 12th and then the tournament sealing bird on the 16th.
Eugene Routledge finished alone at second with an eve-par 36-hole tally, Mark Isakson and Dave Balling shared fourth at 1-over while Todd Van Rensselaer was 6-over in fifth.

36-hole stroke play championship for senior men and women, with gross and net competitions. In addition to the overall championship, there are age divisions as follows: 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+.
