For the fifth time Paul Schlachter has won the the Pennsylvania Senior Match Play
BUCKINGHAM, PA (May 12, 2016) - For the fifth time Paul Schlachter has won the the Pennsylvania Senior Match Play. Schlachter defeated Ken Phillips 3&2 in Thursday's final at Lookaway Golf Club to complete his run to the title.
With the match all-square in its early stages Schlachter, the seventh ranked Senior in the country last year, won the 3rd hole and never looked back. In 10 rankings tournaments played last year Schlachter finished inside the top-10 on eight different occasions and also won the The Hesler.
By the time the championship match cleared the 7th green Schlachter held a 4 up advantage. On the back nine Phillips got as close a 2 down but Schlachter was simply to steady sealing the match on the 16th hole.
Schlachter reached the finals on the heels of a 1 up win over Bob Beck while Phillips handled Thomas A. Bartolacci Jr. 3&1 to reach the finals.
SUPER SENIOR DIVISION
Dave DeNezza handed Bernie Zbrzeznj a 2 up defeat as he won the Super Senior Division of the Pennsylvania Senior Match Play. DeNezza was 3 up with seven holes to play but after Zbrzeznj won 13 and 17 the match headed to the 18th hole with DeNezza only 1 up. Needing a halve at least DeNezza won the final hole and removed any doubt as to the final result of the proceedings.
About the Pennsylvania Senior Match Play

Invitation only event consisting of the top 15 players on the Pennsylvania Golf Association Senior Amateur Player of the Year standings and the club champion of the host club. Format is a round of 16 match play.
