GRANITEVILLE, SC (April 23, 2016) - Austin Eckroat used all of his five-stroke lead entering the day on way to a wire-to-wire over the best junior golfers in the world.
The Oklahoma State commit golfer from Edmond, OK saw his five-shot lead quickly diminish as Min Woo Lee of Australia birdied four of his first seven holes and tacked on four more birdies to post a 5-under 67 for a 5-under total.
Eckroat opened with a double bogey and struggled for most of the round, coming into the 450 yard par-4 18th at 4-over par on the day and tied with Lee. Eckroat hit his approach to 20 feet right of the pin. Needing birdie for the win, Eckroat calmly walked in his putt with three feet to go. Clutch.
Min Woo Lee (brother of LPGA player Minjee Lee) finished in second alone while Denmark's John Axelsen finished in third.
