Slim lead for Middle Tennessee after 36-holes on Monday sets up for exciting final round tomorrow
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (April 4, 2016)--Middle Tennessee (575) leads by two heading into Tuesday's Web.com Intercollegiate final round at Marsh Landing Country Club. Middle Tennessee will be looking for their second victory of the season and first since the end of October when they won the Blue Raider Invitational. Toledo (577) in second place is hot on their heels while Chattanooga (581) and Campbell (581) are T3.
The Blue Raiders have three players in the top 20 after 36-holes of play on Monday. 2015 All-CUSA first teamer Avery George (E) and redshirt senior Emily Miller (E) are T8. Junior Samantha Gotcher (+2) is couple of shots further back and T16. In 2014 Gotcher became the first active Middle Tennessee player to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open since Taryn Durham in 2007.
Campbell junior Nadine White (-6) leads in the medalist pursuit. She posted rounds of 70-68 on day one. Her second round 4-under-par saw White birdie five and bogey just one. Nadine looking for her second win of the season birdied three consecutive holes from No. 10-No. 12.
Four golfers will begin the final round within two-strokes of the lead. Toledo senior Sathika Ruenreong (-5) and freshman Missouri Emma Allen (-5) are in second while Chattanooga senior Emily McLennan (-4) and Cincinnati junior Ashley Cassidy (-4) are two behind and tied for fourth.
Just seven players will begin the final round under-par.
