TRABUCO CANYON, Calif. -- The 2016 SCGA Championship season is underway and a familiar name finds itself atop the overnight leader board at the Foursomes Championship at Dove Canyon GC.

Last year's SCGA Amateur Champion and Player of the Year Nathan Celusta, paired with Jason Pridmore to shoot a 2-under 69 in the first round to snag the lead. The pair opened the day with an eagle on the par-5 first but backed it up with two bogeys for 1-over opening nine. They got things headed in the right direction on the back-nine, however, making four birdies in the first six holes coming home for a backside 32.

Nipping at their heels is another pair of SCGA blue bloods in Mark Miller and Dan Sullivan, who posted a 1-under 70 and remain only one shot back heading into the final round on Tuesday. Miller and Sullivan look to win this event for the third time, having won in consecutive years in 2011 and 2012.
