Kearney, Strickfaden take leads at Kingsway Senior
Bob Kearney
LAKE MARY, Florida (January 13, 2016) -- Horses for
courses? Maybe. But not for
Bob Kearney. He seems to like them
all.
The Houston golfer is tearing his way across
Florida, and while he lost in a playoff at the Gateway
Senior last week the second-best player in the 2015
AmateurGolf.com Senior
Rankings (he's first so far this year of course)
was coming off a win the week before at the Old
Corkscrew.
Today, Kearney added a 72 to his first round 69
to post 141 and lead a trio of players at 143 --
James Starnes (Ft. Myers, Fl), John Vaccaro
(Sarasota), and Mike Occi of Columbia, Maryland.
Out of that trio, the one to watch is definitely
Occi -- he won the tournament in 2012 and 2014 and
this course definitely suits him. But the defending
champ? That would be Kearney.
SUPER SENIOR
Gary Strickfaden
of Southern Pines, North Carolina (what a great
place for a golfer to live!) has taken the the lead
over Tim Miller of Venice (Florida that is) after a
solid two day total of 143 on rounds of 72 and 71.
The final round of this 54-hole tournament will
be played on Thursday.
