Bob Kearney stays hot with win at Golfweek Sr Tour Championship

MARICOPA, Ariz. — Just days after winning the Society of Seniors Championship, Bob Kearney of Houston, Texas captured another big win, this time at the season-ending Golfweek Senior Tour Championship. After opening with a stellar 7-under par round of 65 at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, Kearney concluded with 71-72 and captured a four-shot win.
Kearney led by four shots after each of the first two rounds, with three different players sitting behind him in second place each time. The eventual runner-up was Bev Hargraves, who shot 68 and 70 in his final two rounds. Paul Schlachter sat in second through the first round, while Don Reycroft jumped into the spot on Thursday.
The win secures a second-place spot in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Rankings for Kearney, who finished 140 points behind Doug Hanzel.
In the Super Senior division, Gary Kirwan went wire-to-wire, narrowly defeating Wayne Gardiner. And in the Legends division, Joe Pavoni won a sudden-death playoff against Fred Silver.
