AGC San Diego Amateur Preview: Strong field to tee it this weekend at Aviara

CARLSBAD, Calif. — Though defending champion Sean Crocker will not be in the field, a solid amount of local talent will hit Aviara Golf Club on Saturday as the AmateurGolf.com San Diego Amateur presented by Callaway Golf kicks off. Golfers will play the host course of the LPGA's Kia Classic, Aviara Golf Club, which is the only Arnold Palmer-designed course in San Diego County. Notable players in the field include St. Mary's College golfers Roman Aragon and Perry Cohen, both sophomores, UNLV teammates Redford Bobbitt and Chris Tuulk, as well as Yorba Linda brothers Ricky and Derek Castillo, the latter of whom has committed to play for UNLV beginning in 2016. AmateurGolf.com contributors Jeremy Gomberg and Kyle Rector will also be in this weekend's field. Gomberg played on a Division III National championship team while at University of Redlands and Rector has had solid top-20 finishes at the last two SCGA Mid-Ams.
