Segal, Calkins take home titles at SCGA Tournament of Club Champions

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Corby Segal blazed through The Santaluz Club on Monday, winning the SCGA Tournament of Club Champions by two over Joe Doody of Santa Ana Country Club. Segal, of Woodland Hills Country Club, made no bogeys during his 18-hole round and fired 5-under 67. Doody shot 69 and took second place while Dan Sullivan (Brookside) and Erick Liscio (Temecula Creek) tied for third place at 1-under par 71. In the Senior Division, it was Craig Calkins of Hacienda Golf Club finishing as the only player under par. He carded 68 at Morgan Run Golf Resort in Rancho Santa Fe to finish three ahead of Kenneth Knott of Rancho Park and John Hoffman of Coronado. Knott and Hoffman were both 2-over heading to the final three holes and made birdies on 16 and 17 to post even. Calkins cruised through his round, making two birdies on each side while his only blemish came as a bogey on the par-4 12th hole.

Men’s club champions are invited to play in this 18- hole event. The club champion must have a Handicap Index of 2.4 or below as of the date of registration. They must be an amateur member in good standing with the SCGA and a member on the club’s act...
