Doyle defeats Sanchez in playoff at Contra Costa County Amateur

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — University of California-Berkeley sophomore Ben Doyle topped Jeremy Sanchez of Redwood City in a playoff on Sunday at Boundary Oak for the Contra Costa County Amateur Championship.
The two came in tied after 36 holes at 143 before Doyle prevailed in the playoff. James Yoon of Paraguay, a former Cal golfer, and Keelan Kilpatrick, another former Golden Bear, took third and fourth place respectively. Former University of San Franisco golfer and recently reinstated amateur Domingo Jojola rounded out the top-five with 76-73.
Sanchez opened with 75 but got back into contention with 68 on Sunday. Doyle posted 74 on Saturday and concluded with 69.
Defending champion Jim Reynolds took 11th place.
