CARMICHAEL, Calif. (July 18, 2015) – Day one of the Sacramento Men’s County Amateur was contested today at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course in Carmichael, Calif.

With tough pin locations and the tee boxes stretched out to their maximum length, players found the course quite difficult to manage. Lee Gearhart of Roseville, Calif. carded the only under-par round of the day at 1-under par 71. The Chico State senior has had success at Ancil Hoffman in the past, finishing eighth at the Memorial Amateur this past May.

Trailing Gearhart by one are David Laskin of Elk Grove, Calif. and Jeffery Yamaguchi of Fresno, Calif., who each shot a solid even-par 72.

With many players within two, three and four shots of the lead, it will be tightly contested final round tomorrow. The final group is expected to tee off around noon.
