Baxter, Rappleye atop Wine Country Cup leaderboard
Jonny Baxter
NOVATO, Calif. — The weather got nice, yet the golf continued to be hard at StoneTree Country Club for the 2015 edition of the Wine Country Cup. Difficult pin placements wreaked havoc on golfers of all ages, sizes, and abilities.
One score ended up under par for the day and that was by low handicap net player Chris Hyland who shot a gross 75 from the black tees for a net 71. He leads the net division by two shots over Jesse White who shot a net 73.
The championship division looks a lot like contenders from the Silicon Valley Amateur played two weeks ago. Hunter Rappleye of St. Mary's and Jonny Baxter, who won at Coyote Creek, lead with 74s. They are followed by three 75s — Devrath Das, Ben Albin, and Tye Gabriel. There are 14 players within 4 shots of the lead.
In the senior division Ron Johnson and Dale Bouguennec are tied for the lead at 77 and Sherman Haggerty and Mark Miller are two shots back with 79s.
