Jimmy Beck tied for lead at Georgia Open
Jimmy Beck
KENNESAW, Ga. (July 31, 2014) — Jimmy Beck, a soon-to-be senior at Kennesaw State University, carded a six-under par 66 to share the opening-round lead with mini-tour professional Jay McLuen at the 61st Georgia Open.
The event, being played at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw for the tournament's first time, was the site of last year's Georgia State Amateur — won by Beck.
Another amateur, 17-year-old Jonathan Keppler of Kennesaw Mountain High School, is in solo third place after firing an opening round of 68. Keppler is the son of two-time Georgia Open champion Stephen Keppler.
All in all, there are five amateur players in the top-15 after round one.
