Barbazon Trophy: 3 share lead atop crowded leaderboard

Hartlepool, England (July 25, 2014) -- A group of three share the first round lead at the 2014 Barbazon Trophy.
At Seaton Carew Golf Club, Sebastian Mork Andersen, Tom Fox and Ciaran Doherty all turned in opening-round 5-under 68s and share the one-shot lead.
Ben Stow, Tomasz Anderson, Jack Cardy and Seb Crookall-Nixon all sit just one shot back at 4-under following the first day of action.
Defending champion Jordan Smith (pictured above) shot 1-under 72 and sits tied for 30th after Round 1.
The Barbazon Trophy serves as the English Golfing Union's Stroke Play Championship and runs 72 holes. The field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties following Thursday's second round.
Past winners include Sandy Lyle, Gordon Brand Jnr, Ronan Rafferty, Peter McEvoy, Peter Hanson from Sweden and Charl Schwartzel from South Africa.

Brabazon Trophy
The Brabazon Trophy is the English Men's Open
Amateur Stroke Play Championship and is open to
male
amateur golfers of all nationalities.
The Championship is played by 72 holes of stroke
play
over four days and will be contested by 144
competitors, consisting of exempt players and those
who have progressed through qualifying. 18 holes
are
played on each of the first two days. After 36 holes
the
leading 60 competitors and all those tying for 60th
place shall play a further 18 holes on the third day,
followed by a re-draw and a final 18 holes on the
fourth
day.
