N. Calif. Sr. Four-Ball: Pieper, Staskus lead after 62
COPPEROPOLIS, Calif. (May 22, 2014) -- Frank Pieper and Mike Staskus shot a second-round 62 to race into a two-shot lead after two rounds of play at the 2014 Northern California Senior Four-Ball at Saddle Creek Golf Club.
Pieper and Staskus opened with a 67 but rallied to shoot the event's lowest round and take a two-shot advantage over Greg O'Malley and Ralph Costanzo entering Friday's third and final round.
O'Malley and Costanzo led outright after Round 1 on Wednesday.
Four-time and defending champions Mark Miller and Gary Vanier are third while Marco Dusi and Ken Webb and the team of George Erbez and Tony McBroom round out the Top 5, respectively.
In Round 1, O'Malley and Costanzo became just the fourth team in tournament history to shoot 63. Pieper and Staskus blew away the mark with their impressive 62, good enough for 10-under at Greenhorn.
